Step into one of the Cotswolds’ most enchanting hidden corners.
Beside the historic St. Edward’s Church in Stow-on-the-Wold stands an extraordinary old doorway framed by two ancient yew trees, their twisting roots appearing almost to grow into the surrounding stone.
Affectionately known as the “Tolkien Door,” this wonderfully atmospheric entrance has become famous for its storybook appearance and resemblance to the fantastical doorways imagined within the world of Middle-earth.
Captured during my travels through the English Cotswolds, this photograph brings together so much of what makes Britain’s historic places unforgettable — centuries-old architecture, weathered stone, ancient trees and that wonderful feeling that another story might be waiting just beyond the door.
Presented as a wooden framed canvas, the photograph is surrounded by a beautiful floating-style frame that gives the artwork additional depth and presence while allowing the canvas itself to remain the focal point.
Its horizontal composition makes it especially beautiful above a sofa, bed, console table, fireplace, desk or within a reading room or library — bringing a little English history, mystery and old-world atmosphere into your home.
This piece also makes a thoughtful gift for lovers of the Cotswolds, British history, literary-inspired interiors, cottagecore style, old churches, historic architecture and anyone who dreams of wandering through England’s quieter corners.

Care Instructions
To keep your wooden framed canvas looking beautiful for years to come, we recommend handling the artwork carefully and preferably holding it by the outer wooden frame rather than the printed canvas surface.
For routine cleaning, gently dust the wooden frame with a clean, soft, dry cloth or microfiber cloth. The canvas surface may also be lightly dusted using a soft, dry cloth. Avoid pressing firmly against the canvas.
Do not use water, furniture polish, glass cleaner, household cleaning sprays, solvents or chemical cleaners on either the canvas or wooden frame, as these may damage the printed surface or finish.
Avoid hanging the artwork in areas with excessive moisture, high humidity or frequent temperature fluctuations, such as directly beside a shower, bath or cooking area.
For the best long-term preservation, keep the artwork away from prolonged exposure to strong direct sunlight. As with most artwork and printed materials, extended ultraviolet exposure may gradually affect color over time.
Keep the framed canvas away from direct heat sources, including radiators, heating vents, fireplaces and open flames. If displaying the artwork above a fireplace, ensure there is adequate distance from direct heat, smoke and moisture.
When moving or repositioning the artwork, lift it using the frame with both hands rather than pulling or placing pressure on the canvas.
Before hanging, make sure the wall surface and mounting hardware are appropriate for the size and weight of your chosen artwork. Hanging accessories may vary by country.
For storage, keep the artwork upright in a clean, dry, climate-controlled environment, protected from moisture, extreme temperatures and objects that could press against or scratch the canvas or frame.
