Sometimes the smallest moments are the ones that stay with you.

While wandering through the gardens of Glamis Castle in Scotland, I came across this little bumblebee moving quietly among the purple flowers — a fleeting moment of color and life tucked within the grounds of one of Scotland’s most historic castles.

Rather than focusing on the grandeur of the castle itself, this photograph celebrates something much smaller: the beauty that appears when you slow down long enough to notice what is happening right beside you.

Soft purple blooms create a dreamy backdrop while the bumblebee becomes the unexpected focus of the scene, capturing a peaceful garden moment filled with color, texture and the gentle rhythm of the natural world.

A Quiet Moment at Glamis represents one of the things I love most about photographing Britain — sometimes it isn't the sweeping landscape or grand historic building that becomes the photograph you remember. Sometimes it is the tiny detail you almost walked past.

Presented as a wooden framed canvas, the photograph is surrounded by a beautiful floating-style frame that adds depth and presence while allowing the artwork itself to remain the focal point.

The rich greens and purples pair beautifully with cottage-inspired, botanical, traditional and contemporary interiors, making this piece especially lovely for bedrooms, garden rooms, kitchens, reading corners, nurseries or a thoughtfully collected gallery wall.

It also makes a meaningful gift for gardeners, nature lovers, bee enthusiasts, Scotland lovers, travelers and anyone who finds joy in the quieter details of the natural world.

Care Instructions

To keep your wooden framed canvas looking beautiful for years to come, handle the artwork carefully and preferably hold it by the outer wooden frame rather than the printed canvas surface.

For routine cleaning, gently dust the wooden frame using a clean, soft, dry cloth or microfiber cloth. The canvas surface may also be lightly dusted with a soft, dry cloth, using minimal pressure.

Do not use water, furniture polish, glass cleaner, household cleaning sprays, solvents or other chemical products on either the canvas or wooden frame, as these may damage the printed surface or finish.

Avoid displaying the artwork in areas with excessive humidity, moisture or rapid temperature changes, including immediately beside showers, baths or cooking areas.

For the best long-term preservation, avoid prolonged exposure to strong direct sunlight. As with most photographic artwork and printed materials, extended ultraviolet exposure may gradually affect color over time.

Keep the framed canvas away from radiators, heating vents, candles, fireplaces and open flames. If displaying the artwork above a fireplace, ensure there is adequate distance from direct heat, smoke and moisture.

When moving or repositioning your artwork, lift it securely by the frame with both hands rather than pulling on or applying pressure to the canvas.

Before hanging, ensure that your wall surface and mounting hardware are appropriate for the size and weight of your chosen framed canvas.

If storing the artwork, keep it upright in a clean, dry and climate-controlled environment, protected from moisture, extreme temperatures and objects that could scratch the wooden frame or press against the canvas.
