There are some places that look as though they belong in a story long before you ever learn the history behind them.
Beside the ancient St. Edward’s Church in Stow-on-the-Wold, two magnificent yew trees rise on either side of a weathered wooden doorway, their roots curling into the surrounding stone as though the trees and church have grown together over centuries.
Affectionately known as the “Tolkien Door,” this remarkable entrance has become loved for its fantastical, storybook appearance and resemblance to the kind of doorway one might imagine leading into another world.
Captured during my travels through the English Cotswolds, this vertical composition brings you closer to the doorway itself. The tall yews frame the entrance almost perfectly, while the pathway draws the eye inward — creating that irresistible feeling of wondering what might be waiting on the other side.
For me, this photograph captures so much of what makes Britain’s historic places captivating: ancient stone, beautiful architecture, centuries of character and just enough mystery to allow your imagination to wander.
Printed on premium matte paper, The Storybook Door offers an easy and versatile way to bring a little Cotswold history and old-world atmosphere into your home. Its portrait orientation is particularly beautiful in narrow wall spaces, reading corners, hallways, bedrooms, studies, entryways or as part of a thoughtfully collected gallery wall.

Care Instructions
To keep your print looking its best, always handle it with clean, dry hands and avoid touching the printed surface whenever possible.
When removing the artwork from its packaging, gently support the paper with both hands and avoid folding, bending or creasing the print.
For long-term display, we recommend framing the artwork behind glass or acrylic to help protect it from dust, fingerprints, moisture and accidental damage.
Avoid displaying the print in areas with excessive humidity or moisture, including directly beside showers, baths, sinks or cooking areas.
For the best long-term preservation, keep the artwork away from prolonged exposure to strong direct sunlight. As with most photographic and printed artwork, extended ultraviolet exposure may gradually affect colour over time.
If the surface requires dusting, use a clean, soft, dry cloth or very soft brush with minimal pressure. Do not use water, household cleaners, solvents, chemical sprays or abrasive materials directly on the print.
If storing the poster before framing, keep it in a clean, dry and climate-controlled environment. Store it flat whenever possible or within appropriate protective packaging, and avoid placing heavy objects directly on top of it.
Keep the artwork away from direct heat sources and rapid changes in temperature.
